Document management software is prohibitively expensive, that’s why I decided to start my own when I couldn’t afford one.  Instead of creating another commercial software in a big and profitable market → I decided to release mine not only as an Open Source, Free software project, but also free of charge.

Maintaining a Free Open Source project is not a single task but a combination of tasks: software development, project management, mailing list, free support, issue management, website design, hosting, releases, to name the most common ones.  These require time and money, money that I don’t always have and that’s why I need your help.  If you manage to make money form Mayan EDMS, give something back to the source, if you find it useful for your needs consider donating a fraction of what you would have paid for a commercial solution.
